The first ever Belgian Open was held in 1910 at the Royal Golf Club of Belgium and was contested over 36 holes. It was only in 1928 that the format was extended to become a 72 hole competition.
The tournament was not scheduled during either World War, nevertheless, Belgian golfer Flory Van Donck still successfully managed to win the tournament title five times between 1939 & 1959.
Following an 18 year break, the Belgian Open will now return to the European Tour calendar. The Belgian Knockout is happening.
