What is the DC Chinese New Year Parade?
Washington D.C. celebrates its diverse community with its annual Chinese New Year parade which is one of its biggest events of the year. The Lunar New Year is a celebration known in China as 'Spring Festival'. The theme changes each year and centers on the animal sign for that year according to the Chinese zodiac.
Visitors cane expect to see traditional lion and dragon dances and the booming sound of the drums will fill the streets.
This is a vibrant and joyful event that is not to be missed!

The parade is about seven blocks long and takes about 50 minutes from start to finish.

You can join in on the celebration by wearing the color red which is said to ward off evil spirits and bring in good fortune.
