Since 1910, the International Sahara Festival in Douz (Festival International du Sahara de Douz) has celebrated the rich Arab-Berber heritage of the region.
This actually started out as a camel festival and has since blown out to be an international celebration highlighting the lives and traditions of the desert lives of the people in this part of the Sahara.
For four full days, festival-goers will have the opportunity to discover local art with exhibitions, music shows and a book fair, and documentary screenings.
Traditional ceremonies and events are also recreated to take you on a wonderful historic adventure, like weddings, meharis races dromedary, or camel fighting.
