What is Groundhog Day?
There are several celebrations of Groundhog Day throughout the world, but the largest and most popular takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania where crowds of around 40,000 people attend the ceremony.
Groundhog Day has been celebrated since 1886 in Punxsutawney, and they even named the main star of the event as Punxsutawney Phil!
This event actually has a fun story. Imagine waiting for a groundhog to emerge from its burrow in the middle of winter just to predict the weather for the next six weeks! Truly one unique experience!
But aside from the emergence of the groundhog, other activities have made this event more fun like the talent show, the banquet and a formal evening ball.
