What is the Henley on Todd Regatta?
Henley On Todd Regatta is a dry-land sailing and rowing regatta that takes place every year on the third Saturday in August.
In Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory of Australia, the bed of the Todd River turns into a race track for a boat race, with pirate ships firing flour bombs and people paddling canoes with sand shovels or boats on legs.
There are many events for the entire family to enjoy, along with the exciting "river" race. Kids can participate in sandcastle building and 'Mini Yacht' races, and adults can enjoy events like Sand Shovelling and a boogie board slalom course.
