What is the St. Patrick's Day Grand Parade?
Visitors and residents will enjoy the Quad Cities' St. Patrick Day parade which is considered one of the best in the Midwest and one of the top ten parades in North America. Thousands of specatators line the parade route to watch bands, Irish dancers, floats, groups, and family clans. The day ends with Iowa's largest St. Patrick's party. The St. Patrick's Day Parade celebrates the spirit of St. Patrick and Irish Heritage and begins at 11:30am in downtown Rock Island, Illinois, and winds its way to the Centennial Bridge.
The post-parade 'bash' includes food, drink, live Irish music and dancers, along with the presentation of the parade trophy winners.
Need to know
Before the parade, there is an annual St. Patrick Day Race that is suitable for anyone to enter, irrespective of their age and athletic capacity. The races start and finish at the River Music Experience in downtown Davenport, Iowa.
Did you know?
This is the only interstate St. Patrick's Parade in the U.S as it runs from Illinois into Davenport Iowa.
If you are planning to be in the US for St. Patrick's Day, why not head to this fantastic parade and celebrate the luck of the Irish!
