What is the Johor Bahru Chingay Celebration?
The annual Chingay street parade has been an annual tradition in Johor Bahru since the 1800s.
This spectacular event also known as the 'Parade of the Deities' is now a major cultural and tourist attraction with over 300,000 visitors each year.
During the 4 days leading up to the event, there are Chinese opera performances, musical shows and dragon dancing but the grand finale and the parade that everyone throngs to see is the street parade.
Need to know
The parade can last up to seven hours as spectators are treated to the most vibrant display of lion dancers, dragon dancers, live music, and much, much more.

The Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple is the organizer of the Chingay celebration. It is one oldest buildings in the city.
