Lewes Bonfire Night

0 Reviews

Held annually on November 5th, Lewes Bonfire Night is an annual celebration that takes place in the town of Lewes, Sussex, UK.

This legendary celebration is the UK’s festivities and it commemorates and honors the memory of the 17 Protestant martyrs from the town burned during the Marian Persecutions.

Hundreds lined the streets of the Sussex town to watch the procession where locals and visitors participate in parades and parties, enjoy firework displays throughout the evening, and of course bonfires.

This event is organized by seven bonfire societies and each throws its own meeting places, costumes, colors and parades. Another highlight of the festivities is when men and women are pulling flaming tar barrels in a "barrel run," taking place along Cliffe High Street at the start of the evening.

It's a fascinating and unique experience that will thrill the whole family! To get a more accurate and detailed picture of the event, take a look at the event website we’ve listed for you.
