Constructed in 1787-1796 under the Governorship of Lord Dunmore in the memory of the wife of King George III, which encompasses three different forts, it is built of solid rock and dry moat spanned with a wooden bridge on its north side. The forts and its military installations in New Providence and throughout the Bahamas create its insurmountable defense system that portrays an unbeatable barrier, thus rendering the fort invincible.
