What is the Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival?
Every February, New York City’s boroughs come alive with Lunar (Chinese) New Year celebrations, but the main event is held in Manhattan, in the heart of the city’s Chinatown. Traditionally, the Lunar New Year marks the end of winter and looks forward to spring and new beginnings.
This special event has a street party vibe and is a fun-filled day for all the family. You can expect to see dragon dancing, colorful costumes, martial arts performers and firecrackers galore.
Be sure to come hungry and enjoy some of the delicacies on offer at one of the many food vendors lining the parade route. The hardest part will be choosing which one to stop by!
