What is the Madeira Flower Festival?
If you are looking for a unique experience in Madeira during springtime then look no further. The Madeira Flower Festival is one of the island's most striking and eagerly anticipated events of the year.
The festival is a month-long celebration of the spring season as Madeira's beautiful flowers are in full bloom. The festival is also a cultural event, as it features Madeiran traditions such as folklore performances, stunning floral carpets, and a program of musical concerts and variety shows.
The streets of Funchal city center are filled with the scent of flowers and the sound of music as thousands of locals and visitors watch the amazing float parade, featuring jaw-dropping floral displays, musicians, dancers and so much more.
This wonderful festival promises to provide an unforgettable experience.

The flower festival parade is a ticketed event.
Did you know?
Since 1979 there has been a tradition at the festival where a group of children, escorted by their parents, place a flower on a beautiful mural called the 'Wall of Hope'. It is a symbolic gesture to call for global peace.
