The South Indian Ocean Billfish Competition, organized by the Le Morne Anglers' Club in Black River, Mauritius is usually held in late January during the peak of the marlin season.
Situated on the west coast of the Island, sheltered from the prevailing trade winds, Black River is the perfect place for unforgettable deep-sea fishing experiences. It has earned its reputation and was listed as one of the best competitors with the International Game Fishing Association, or the IGFA, in the South Indian Ocean.
Teams compete for a number of categories, including the heaviest marlin and the heaviest fish other than a marlin.
