Mt. Marathon Race is known for quite a strenuous and challenging course leading to the top of Mount Marathon, which is 2,974 feet (906 m) high.
Yet many people arent familiar with the hiking trail to the peak at Race Point and its far less challenging. The 4.5-mile course, which entails hiking three different trails, takes you up the mountain and allows you to discover a glacial valley along the way.
With the ramparts of Mount Marathon behind you, you can do what not many racers have the possibility to do??sit, eat something and drink in the long, wide view.
