What is the Accompong Maroon Festival?

The Accompong Maroon Festival is a cultural celebration marking more than 200 years since the Maroons and the British signed a peace deal.

Held annually on January 6th, this day also marks the birthday of one of the nation's beloved leaders, Captain Cudjoe who was the founder of the village.

A ceremonial march towards the Kindah tree is the highlight of this celebration, where a special unsalted and unseasoned pork is enjoyed.

Learn more about Accompong's Afro-Caribbean heritage through traditional drumming, dancing, music, chanting, speeches, and other special activities.

This is truly a must-see event when visiting Jamaica.
