What is the Great Reno Balloon Race?
Each September around 100 hot air balloons fill the clear desert skies of Reno, Nevada. If you want to see the best of the event, you will need to set your alarm bright and early. The famous Glow Show, where the balloons are lit against the still-dark morning sky takes place around 5am and the main launch happens around 7am.
The Race is a wonderful event for ballooning enthusiasts, photographers, and families – children may particularly enjoy a brief tethered balloon ride!
Need to Know
Early mornings in the desert can be very cold, so make sure to bring warm clothing – layers are best, so you can shed a layer or two once the sun is up.
