What is the Jerusalem Lyric Opera Festival?
As one of Jerusalem’s flagship arts events, the Lyric Opera Festival is a popular event for both casual listeners and opera afficionados. The festival features a large program of events, while primarily focusing on popular and accessible operatic pieces for everyone’s enjoyment.
There is an International Opera Competition where soloists perform arias for a judging panel of internationally renowned singers and conductors. There are full productions of popular operas such as The Magic Flute and La Boheme as well as fully staged concerts of opera’s most popular arias and duets performed by leading singers.

Most events are ticketed and do sell out, so check out the program and book early.
Did You Know?
During the 17th Century women were not allowed to perform in operas, so castrated males played – and sang – all the female roles. Fortunately, these days women are and invaluable and integral part of the opera community.
