What is the World Bog Snorkelling Championship?
If you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary you won’t want to miss this quirky event!
Every year competitors from around the world flock to Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales, UK to see who can swim the length of a 120-yard bog the fastest. The course consists of two trenches that are dug about three feet deep and filled with water.
If you're not competing, there is still plenty of entertainment to enjoy at this event, aside from watching the swimmers themselves. There are food and drink vendors, handicrafts stalls, a bouncy castle, live music, and a real ale and cider bar.
Need to Know
The event takes place at Waen Rhydd bog on the outskirts of the town. Competitors and spectators can either walk or take the shuttle bus running from the town center to the bog.
You can enter either online, which closes seven days before the event, or in person on the day.
There is an entry fee for seniors (aged over 16) and juniors (aged 14 to 15).
