What is the Chestnut Festival?
Organized by the Casa do Povo of Curral das Freiras, the Chestnut Festival takes place every November to honor and promote the importance of Maderia's special agricultural product.
This wonderful festival is the perfect opportunity for visitors to taste the various delicacies and products made from this fruit including roasted chestnuts, liqueurs and cakes.
It's a really popular event with both locals and tourists. Expect lots of entertainment, music as well as traditional food and drink.
