What is the Coronation of King Charles III?
The world will be watching this historic day in London which will see the coronation of King Charles III, the UK's first coronation in 70 years. In this symbolic and religious ceremony, the new sovereign is crowned which formalizes King Charles's role as the head of the Church of England and marks the handing over of title and powers to him.
The day's proceedings will start with the King's Procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey for the Coronation Service. This is followed by The Coronation Procession from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace.
The streets of London will see crowds lining the streets to watch what will be the largest military ceremonial operation for over 70 years.
