What is the Salzburg Christmas Market?

The Salzburg Christmas Market is one of the world's oldest Advent markets.

Here you can find lots of local folk customs and traditional decorations, unique gifts for loved ones and all kinds of tasty Austrian specialties and treats.

Sip on some mulled wine or hot punch and stroll around Salzburg’s Cathedral Square, where the night sky is lit up with festive string lights. 

This incredible event draws thousands of visitors every Christmas season, from near and far.

The Salzburg Christmas Market takes center stage for New Year celebrations too! Entertainment is provided by drummers, a piano player, a dance group and the well-known Lungau Big Band who will welcome visitors into the New Year with a festive fireworks display.
